We are a Church School

Learning and growing, loving and caring with Jesus...

We are very proud to announce that Bainbridge C of E Primary School  has been judged as an ‘outstanding’ church school in our recent SIAMS inspection (February 2015). Please click here to read our inspection report.

Bainbridge Church of England Primary School has a strong Christian heart and well-established links with the local Christian community, centred around St. Oswald's Church in Askrigg. Reverend Ann Chapman delivers collective worship regularly and supports our staff and governing body with theological reflection.

We are always seeking to develop and enhance our distinctiveness and effectiveness as a church school and have established some really positive aspects in order to do so:

  • ‘Church School Champions’ meet regularly and contribute to a weekly column in the school newsletter.
  • Collective worship is based on the exploration of distinctly Christian values. We are currently exploring the value of ‘hope’.
  • Bainbridge children return to Bainbridge School every day for collective worship so that we can maintain and cherish its Christian distinctiveness.
  • Children are actively engaged in planning, delivering, and evaluating Collective Worship.
  • Children have designed and produced a prayer trail around school.
  • School councillors have produced our RESPECT code, and in doing so, evaluated its links to Christian values.
  • We have strong links with our local church (St. Oswald’s, Askrigg).
  • We work closely with the St. Andrew’s Christian community at Aysgarth and Reverends Lynn and Ann have led joint services for the children of all three schools in our collaboration.
